Following a great season with the Boston Dogs, forward Nathan McDougall is excited to be moving on to NCAA Division III Worcester State University for the 2025-26 season.
McDougall, a Gatineau, Que., native, signed with the Dogs to begin the 2024-25 season and once they transitioned to the NCDC he played in 30 games tallying 15 points (4G, 11A).
“The Boston Dogs organization is great,” said McDougall. “They have an amazing coaching staff, a nice hockey rink with two pads and an awesome gym that I would spend a lot of time in. I decided to sign there after speaking with Coach Cody Gonyeau and hearing about the great culture they had and the goals they had for the team.”
In February, McDougall got in touch with the Worcester State coaching staff and the talks took off from there.
“The coaches told me they liked the way I played the game on both sides of the puck,” said McDougall. “They also liked my offensive game and my possession of the puck on the power play.”
McDougall was very familiar with Worcester State as he has played at their home rink, the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center, many times. He also enjoyed the campus and the fact that they had the major he wanted to study.
“I liked the area the school was in and was glad they had a computer science program,” said McDougall. “I also liked the size of it and how it wasn’t too big but not too small. I felt comfortable at the campus and saw it as a place I can spend the next four years of my life at.”
In order to succeed at the college level, McDougall is working hard fine-tuning his skills and making sure he is ready to compete.
“I am working on my skating and speed,” said McDougall. “I am also developing my strength on and off the ice to be able to compete against older players. I am also continuing to work on my hockey IQ and awareness on the ice because I believe that is what separates players at the next level.”
The NCDC congratulates Nathan McDougall, his family, the Boston Dogs and Worcester State University for his commitment.
