Jersey Hitmen defenseman Marty Magaletta is excited to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to St. Michael’s College for the 2026-27 season.
Magaletta, who hails from Clifton Park, NY came to the Hitmen in January after playing in 19 games with the NY Dynamo. In 18 games since joining the team, Magaletta has seven points and has been a force on defense.
“I think the Hitmen is a great organization for sure,” said Magaletta. “When I came here in January, I noticed how professionally things are run on and off the ice, and it makes me excited to show up and compete every day.”
Magaletta started his discussions with St. Michael’s coach Jack Fitzgerald back in the fall. Magaletta explained how the coach liked his skating, his hockey IQ and his ability to move the puck quickly.
Magaletta loved the school for its intimate setting, and during his visit, he was especially impressed by the strong sense of team culture.
“What interested me most at first about the academic side of St. Mikes was the small class sizes where I can build a relationship with my professors,” said Magaletta. “On the hockey side, Coach Fitzgerald puts an emphasis on team culture which I noticed on my visit, and I think that’s really important and will help push us towards NE10 titles.”
Magaletta hopes his team can finish the season strong and build momentum for a deep playoff push.
“For the rest of this season, I hope to make a run and win the Atlantic division playoffs, and eventually win the Dineen Cup,” said Magaletta.
The NCDC congratulates Marty Magaletta, his family, the Jersey Hitmen and St. Michael’s College for his commitment.
