Boston Jr. Bruins defenseman Colin Foyle is excited to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Fitchburg State University for the 2026-27 season.

Foyle, who hails from Westfield, MA played 42 games for the Boston Jr. Rangers Premier team for the 2024-25 season tallying 20 points. He signed with the Boston Jr. Bruins NCDC team for the 2025-26 season and had nothing but positive things to say about his experience so far. In 25 games played for the Jr. Bruins, Foyle has 14 points (2G, 12A).

“I decided to sign with the Jr. Bruins for the 25-26 season because they are in close proximity to my hometown of Westfield, Massachusetts,” said Foyle. “I have also had many friends growing up play in the Jr. Bruins youth system, so I knew how good of an organization it was, and how they would be able to help me elevate my game.”

Foyle began communicating with the Fitchburg coaching staff early on this season while they were down in New Jersey for the Hitmen Showcase.

“I spoke with the coaching staff about how they were graduating four guys on the back end this year, and they were looking to bring in big, fast, puck-moving defenseman to fill the gap next year,” said Foyle.

Foyle took a real interest to Fitchburg for their hockey program and how successful they have been as well as the academics they offer. He knew it was a place he could thrive.

“I think that I was interested in Fitchburg because growing up in Massachusetts, I have always known a decent amount about the state schools and the way that they operate,” said Foyle. “The hockey was appealing as they have been having success over the past couple of seasons, along with a beautiful arena and gym facility right along with it. I think academically, Fitchburg will fulfill my education needs and I am excited to see what kind of different courses and things they have to offer.”

Playing at the college level comes with big changes and Foyle is ready to work hard and take his game to the next level.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to an amazing team that Fitchburg State runs over there,” said Foyle.” I think in order to achieve a high level of success, it is really all just within the small details. Everything needs to improve: strength, speed, agility, puck movement. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to grow my game and excel at the next level.”

Before Foyle goes off to play college hockey, he wants to finish out his juniors career strong with the Jr. Bruins and accomplish their goals as a team.

“We are just trying to really gel together with the group of guys that we have in the room, and play a full 60 minutes every night,” said Foyle. “That is going to be a big factor in how much we are going to be able to accomplish the rest of the way. I think our guys are very capable of being the best, we just have to show up ready to go every day, and grind it out until the end.”

The NCDC congratulates Colin Foyle, his family, the Boston Jr. Bruins and Fitchburg State University for his commitment.
