Boston Jr. Rangers forward Charles Dey is excited to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Curry College for the 2026-27 season.

Dey, who hails from Honolulu, HI signed with the Boston Jr. Rangers for the 2025-26 season after a year in the EHL and is serving as a team captain this season. In 27 games played so far, Dey has 35 points (8G, 27A) and is enjoying every moment he has spent here.

“I have really enjoyed my time with the Boston Jr. Rangers,” said Dey. “It has been great playing for Coach DeCaprio and Coach Bowen. They have created a great environment for us to improve as players. Coach DeCaprio has a lot of experience, and a positive attitude. The coaches’ personalities create a great energy around the rink, and it shows up in our team’s culture. These things, plus Coach DeCaprio’s reputation of moving players on to the next level, combined with the facilities at our rink, made BJR a great option for me to continue to develop.”

Curry’s assistant coach Mike Sones reached out to Dey after one of Jr. Rangers games in early October. Shortly after, Dey visited the campus and met with head coach Peter Roundy in November.

Coach Roundy had this to say about Dey: “We really like the way you think the game offensively, your creativity, competitiveness and desire to improve”.

There were many things that drew Dey to want to play at Curry. Their winning culture, the coaching staff and the strong academics are just a few.

“Coach Roundy’s success at Curry College, his reputation of developing players and the opportunity to compete for a National Championship made Curry a very appealing program,” said Dey. “Having played juniors in Massachusetts for the past two seasons, I’m very familiar with the area and I’ll have access to the same resources I’ve been using off the ice to take care of myself and continue my development. Academically, the flexible curriculum, the opportunity to major in business, combined with smaller class sizes and the potential to form better relationships with the professors made Curry appealing to me.”

As Dey heads into the second half of the season, he is working hard on certain areas to be ready for the college level.

“This season one area I’ve focused on is improving my defensive game as a center,” said Dey. “As we move into the second half of the season, I am going to continue to work on shutting down plays quickly in the defensive zone. On offense I’ll continue working on creating space for myself to make plays, so that I can help create even more chances for my teammates. Coach Roundy and Coach Sones have given me feedback on areas that they think I can improve on as I am preparing for next year’s season with Curry.”

Dey is hoping to finish out his juniors career strong with the Jr. Rangers. He believes in the team and hopes they can bring home a championship.

“I look forward to continuing to improve all areas of my game,” said Dey. “I hope to help my teammates improve and get closer to their individual goals, as we all collectively build towards becoming the best team we can be to win the championship.”

The NCDC congratulates Charles Dey, his family, the Boston Jr. Rangers and Curry College for his commitment.
