Boston Dogs forward Kayson Un Yi is thrilled to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Elmira College for the 2026-27 season.
Un Yi, who is from Laval, QC, CAN is in his first season with the Dogs and has been a huge offensive threat for them. In 39 games played so far, Un Yi has 30 points, including 23 goals for the Dogs. Un Yi gives a lot of credit to his coach and the NCDC for helping him grow as a player.
“I decided to play in the NCDC because I saw it as a great opportunity to get college traction,” said Un Yi. “With the league consisting of more older and experienced players, achieving success felt more appealing. My head coach (Cody Gonyeau) helped me a lot through the college process and I can’t thank him enough for it.”
Elmira assistant coach Jimmy Poreda reached out to Un Yi in early December about him continuing his hockey career there.
“Coach Poreda said that they loved my speed and ability to handle the puck,” said Un Yi. “Above all, the coaching staff praised my ability to put the puck in the back of the net.”
Un Yi admired the hockey setup on campus and felt the school offered exactly what he wanted to major in.
“The first thing that caught my interest was the elite gym setup they had,” said Un Yi. “The arena dome was also something you couldn’t take lightly. Academically, they had exactly what I wanted to study.”
Though Un Yi is sidelined the rest of the season due to an injury, he will continue to support his teammates in their quest for a playoff push.
The NCDC congratulates Kayson Un Yi, his family, the Boston Dogs and Elmira College for his commitment.
