Springfield Pics forward Jacob Carey is excited to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to American International College for the 2026-27 season.
Carey, who hails all the way from Christchurch, New Zealand had 59 points with the USPHL Premier Pics during the 2024-25 season. This season with the NCDC team, he has shined offensively. In 45 games so far, Carey has 47 points (20G, 27A) and has enjoyed his time immensely.
“I can’t speak highly enough of the Springfield Pics,” said Carey. “It’s truly a family. All the coaches from the NCDC squad all the way down to the youth teams have helped foster a home far away from home. The values the Pics embody are in perfect harmony with the values I strive to live by in all facets of life: hard work, dedication, family and much more.”
Carey has known coach Patrick Tabb from AIC for the past couple seasons and always had a dream of playing for him.
“I’ve been extremely fortunate to get to know Coach Tabb over the last couple seasons while playing for the Springfield Pics, long before AIC was a possible college landing spot,” said Carey. “At first, I just enjoyed picking his brain about certain details within the game and development. It was something I was very curious about and when he became the coach of AIC, I was immediately interested in possibly playing for him. I began communicating with AIC fairly early in the season and decided to follow my heart and commit shortly after the new year. Coach Tabb liked my work ethic and raw tools in my game.”
Carey was drawn to AIC for their incredible track record of developing players and the education he would get is an added bonus. Carey is continuing to work on his fundamentals to prepare him for the college level.
“I will continue to work relentlessly to master the fundamentals,” said Carey. “I’m working hard on my skating. Over time, I believe it will become a true strength. I have a pretty decent shot so I’ll look to weaponise that as much as I can.”
Carey wants to enjoy these last few months with the Pics and leave a better person then where he started.
“My single goal for the rest of the season, and for any season, is leaving the jersey in a better place,” said Carey. “Enhance the legacy of the logo. I believe winning, personal development, and success is a byproduct of living the values you align with while pursuing this goal.”
The NCDC congratulates Jacob Carey, his family, the Springfield Pics and American International College for his commitment.
