The National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC) is proud to congratulate South Shore Kings captain Jake Owens on his commitment to Tufts University (NCAA DIII).
Owens, a native of Chittenango, NY, has been a key part of the Kings’ success over the past two seasons. In 2024-25, the veteran forward helped lead South Shore to the NCDC Founders Cup Championship and a third consecutive Dineen Cup Finals appearance. Owens posted 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points in 55 regular-season games, while adding key production in all 11 playoff contests. Now in his second NCDC season, he has continued his strong play with eight points (4-4–8) in 10 games.
“Playing for the South Shore Kings over the past two years has been an awesome experience,” said Owens. “The high level of competition and strong team culture has really helped me grow as a player. The coaches have created an environment where everyone can improve and stay motivated, and I’ve learned a lot from their guidance. Overall, it’s been a great place to develop and be part of a tight-knit team”
Kings GM and Head Coach Tyler Holske praised Owens for his leadership and development during his NCDC tenure.
“I am very happy for Jake and his family,” said Holske. “The growth both as a person and as a hockey player has been fun to watch. He is everything you want as a coach. Jake is well respected by his peers. He shows up day in and day out and leads by example. Last season, Jake was in a depth role for us. It took some time at the beginning of the season getting adjusted to junior hockey. What impressed me the most early on was how coachable he was. He was willing to stick to the process. He took a big step towards the second half of last season. He gave us depth scoring and helped us get back to the Dineen Cup Finals. I look forward to watching Jake succeed at the next level,” Holske added.
The NCDC congratulates Jake Owens, the South Shore Kings organization, and his family on this exciting next step in his academic and hockey journey.
