Idaho Falls was powered by a huge goaltending performance from Charlie Durkin, as well as the opening goal by Leo Mantenuto. He scored at 4:24 of the second period on the power play, picking up assists from D.J. MacLeish and William O’Donovan.
Durkin came away with 33 saves on 33 shots to pick up the victory.
Domenick Gatto got the call for Mercer, and put up a strong performance with 17 saves on 18 shots.
This puts the Spud Kings into Monday’s Championship Round, which could be either one or two games, depending on the Spud Kings’ performance – if they lose Monday, they’d get a second chance to win on Tuesday, April 29m in the “if necessary” game.
