The National Collegiate Development Conference congratulates the South Shore Kings’ Beau Lane for being named the 2024-25 New England Division Goaltender Of The Year.
“I’m truly honored to receive this award and thankful to all the coaches who voted for me. I couldn’t have achieved this without my teammates,” said Lane, an ‘04 from Pembroke, Mass. “They pushed me to be the best version of myself every day on the ice and gave me the opportunity to show what I’m capable of throughout the season.”
Lane joined the Kings in November. To be exact, he re-joined the Kings, as he had played for their AAA Prep showcase team back in 2021-22. This year, he finished in the top 10 in wins with 16, and was also in the top 20 for goals against average with a 2.46 goals against average.
“I believe I brought a strong technical and athletic game that helped me stay consistent. I take great pride in controlling my rebounds and being active with the puck, and I think that was a key factor in our success this season,” said Lane.
Lane helped the Kings earn their first-ever Founders Cup as regular season champions with 91 points, which ultimately helped earn them a berth in the Dineen Cup Championship series. The Kings made it to the final, before falling to the Idaho Falls Spud Kings on April 28.
Lane was very appreciative of all that the Kings did to push him and his game to new heights this year. It came as no surprise that the Kings were in their third straight Cup final, having earlier won the Cup in 2023-24.
“I’m very thankful for the commitment to work in the South Shore Kings organization. From the on-ice to off-ice work regimen, the South Shore Kings make sure we are prepared with extra skills and goalie skates each week,” Lane added. “I’m appreciative of Goalie Coach Clay Adams for doing an amazing job helping me finetune my details and habits as a goalie that I will carry with me in my future goalie career.”
Having played in some of North America’s top junior leagues the past three years, Lane was happy to have closed his junior career in the NCDC.
“The NCDC does a great job of preparing players to play at the next level. The competition within this league is intense, with each team bringing a high level of skill,” said Lane. “The NCDC has given players like me the exposure to play at the next level.”
That next level for Lane will be SUNY-Plattsburgh, where Lane will open his NCAA hockey career this fall.
“I’m eager to become a Cardinal for the next four years. As I look forward to my future, I’m preparing for this new chapter by continuing to fine-tune my game with Mass Crease and putting in work off the ice in the gym,” he said. “I’m excited to learn from the coaches at SUNY-Plattsburgh and the current team and continue to get better.”
