Boston Jr. Bruins goaltender Brendan Nee is excited to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Fitchburg State University for the 2026-27 season.

Nee, an Arlington, MA native is in his first year with the team and has had an exceptional season. In 22 appearances, Nee has gone 13-4-2 with a 2.69 GAA and has been a key part of the team’s success in their first year as an NCDC program.

“Signing with the Jr. Bruins over the summer was a no-brainer,” said Nee. “My brother played for the Bruins during the 22-23 season and absolutely loved it. I can happily say that I have had a similar experience. Coach Hamilton has been amazing and helped me become a better goaltender and person.”

At the beginning of December, Nee started talking with the coaching staff at Fitchburg and they instantly made a connection.

“Coach Fuller liked how well-rounded my game is,” said Nee. “Having a great base built on skating to help me make easy positional saves, while also having the athletic ability to quickly move cross crease and steal saves.”

Fitchburg is the perfect spot for Nee to grow as a person and a player and he believes it will set him up for life after hockey.

“What originally caught my eye at Fitchburg was the awesome facilities they have,” said Nee. “The on-campus rink, greater locker room, and recently renovated weight room set them apart from a lot of other DIII teams. But, it was ultimately the leadership of the program that sold me the most. Coach Fuller, one of the longest tenured coaches in all of NCAA hockey, runs the program as professional as you can make it. He believes in all his players and sets everyone up for success on and off the ice.”

“At Fitchburg I will look to continue to develop all aspects of my game to become a great collegiate goalie,” said Nee. “I view myself as a leader and hope that I can bring that aspect of my game to Fitchburg to help the team on and off the ice.”

Nee set himself two big goals before the season started and now that he has achieved one, he hopes to keep working hard on the second one.

“I had two goals going into the season, the first being to earn a commitment to a school that would set me up for life after hockey and somewhere where I will be able to compete for championships,” said Nee. “The second, win the Dineen Cup. Now that I have earned that commitment, I will continue to compete to help give my team the best opportunity to lift the cup at the end of the season. I also want to focus on having fun and cherishing all the moments I have left with all my teammates before the season comes to an end.”

The NCDC congratulates Brendan Nee, his family, the Boston Jr. Bruins and Fitchburg State University for his commitment.
