NCDC Commitment Profile: Dogs Ohannesian Commits to Wentworth Institute of Technology

Boston Dogs defenseman Sammy Ohannesian is excited to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Wentworth Institute of Technology  for the 2026-27 season.

Ohannesian, a Lynn, MA native has enjoyed his time immensely with the Dogs and credits his coaches for really helping him grow as a player. Though he is injured right now, Ohannesian did play in 29 games this season tallying eight assists.

“My time in the NCDC was a lot of fun,” stated Ohannesian. “The league has a lot of top talent and being able to play against those guys every day and test myself was a great way to prepare for NCAA hockey. My coaches ( Cody Gonyeau and Mike Diorio ) were great coaches for me helping me develop my game to prepare for college and work through injuries during my career. Playing in the NCDC, I was exposed to a great amount of college coaches and opportunities which led me to my college commitment.”

Back in January, Ohannesian started communicating with the coaching staff at Wentworth and explained what the coach liked about his game.

“Coach Jay Pecora said he was impressed with my relentless work ethic and toughness in my game, along with my skating ability and play making,” said Ohannesian.

Ohannesian always wanted to play college hockey somewhere in the city of Boston near his hometown of Lynn and Wentworth checked all his boxes in terms of location, hockey and academics.

“I have always wanted to play close to home in the city,” said Ohannesian. “I really loved how close the guys on the team are with each other and how they bond through team activities. The team also has a blue collar mentality, which is something I feel strongly connected to. Academically, the school is highly spoken about and takes pride in the classroom. With the co-op program being part of the school, WIT gives you real life work experience while getting an education.

Before he heads to the college level, Ohannesian is hoping that his team can finish out the season strong and make the playoffs.

“I am working hard to accomplish making the playoffs in our team’s first full year in the NCDC,” said Ohannesian. “Although I may be out with an injury, I still support the guys and push our team to be our best every day as we compete for a playoff spot.”

The NCDC congratulates Sammy Ohannesian, his family, the Boston Dogs and Wentworth for his commitment.
