The NCDC is proud to announce that Jakob Hansen, a forward for the West Chester Wolves, has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Lake Forest College, where he will compete in NCAA Division III hockey beginning in the 2026–27 season.
Hansen began communicating with the Foresters’ coaching staff in November, shortly after his time with the PAL Islanders in the NCDC and a call-up to the NAHL. The Lake Forest staff was immediately drawn to his hockey IQ, physical presence, and his ability to impact the game at both ends of the ice.
For Hansen, academics were the driving force in choosing his future home.
“Lake Forest does a great job setting their students up for success after college, especially the athletes,” Hansen said, noting the school’s impressive post-graduation success rate. “For me, academics are the most important aspect. And on the athletic side, the opportunity to go to school next year as a 2006 was huge, as most other schools wanted me to age out of juniors.”
Reflecting on his NCDC experience, Hansen emphasized how meaningful the league has been for his development.
“My time in the NCDC has been great. The hockey is high-level and I get to challenge myself each and every day,” he said. “Playing on two NCDC teams this year, I can speak well about the coaches in this league, they truly care about their players and help them reach the next level. The friendships and memories I’ve made this year are ones I’ll cherish forever.”
With his commitment secured, Hansen remains focused on helping the Wolves finish the year strong.
“With the end of the season coming up, I hope to make a push for the playoffs and make some noise toward our team’s ultimate goal of winning a Dineen Cup Championship,” he added.
Congratulations to Jakob Hansen and his family on this tremendous accomplishment, and best of luck as he continues his journey at Lake Forest College!
