The National Collegiate Development Conference congratulates the Northern Cyclones’ Aidan Petroff for being named the 2024-25 New England Division Rookie Of The Year.
“I’m honored to be chosen as the rookie of the year for the New England Division,” said Petroff, a 2006-born native of Natrona Heights, Pa. “I would like to thank all of the coaches who voted for me and made this an unforgettable season.”
In 44 NCDC games this year, he posted 16 goals and 28 assists for 44 points, which followed a successful 2023-24 season for his longtime AAA association the Pittsburgh Stars of the Tier 1 Hockey Federation. A 2023 NCDC Draft selection by the Cyclones, Petroff played for the Cleveland Barons AAA team in his draft year, prior to joining the Stars.
“The Cyclones developed me into a completely different player than when I first got there,” added Petroff. “They really showed me what it takes to play junior hockey and made it possible with the great facilities that they offer.”
Petroff was a huge part of the Cyclones’ drive to the New England Championship and the Dineen Cup Championship series, including eight goals and 11 points in 10 games.
“I think it was a great first junior season and it was so much fun to have success with such a great team. My individual success would have not been possible without the support from my teammates and outstanding coaching staff,” said Petroff. “Obviously, we all wanted to win the Dineen Cup at the end, but looking back on our memories as a team, I wouldn’t change a thing. I had a blast winning with these guys, especially winning the New England Division.”
Petroff is hard at work already to make the next season even better than 2024-25.
“In the 2025-26 season, I want to develop every part of my game and become the best version of myself every day,” he said. “Bringing my best every single day will help me achieve this.”
