Joshua Swan, a native of Chateauguay, Que., signed with the West Chester Wolves for the 2024-25 season and had a great experience with the organization. Swan is now excited to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Stevenson University for the 2025-26 season.
In 49 regular season games played, Swan tallied 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) and was a key forward all season.
“One of the biggest reasons I decided to sign with the Wolves for the 2024–25 season was Head Coach R.C. Lyke,” said Swan.” From our first conversation, I could tell how passionate he is about the game and about helping his players succeed. He was very honest and knowledgeable. What really stood out to me was how Coach Lyke, after one of our very first conversations at main camp, took the time to talk about my game and identify areas where I can improve. He was upfront about the weaknesses in my game and emphasized that he’s going to focus on helping me grow in those areas.”
Swan first connected with the Stevenson coaching staff right before the NCDC All-Star event. They spoke again after he played in the All-Star event and things fell into place from there.
“The coaches liked my offensive instincts, my ability to create scoring chances, and how I play with pace and vision,” said Swan. “Hearing that they see me as someone who could make an immediate impact really boosted my confidence and made me excited about the opportunity.”
Swan was instantly drawn to the hockey program and the winning culture the coaches have committed to building. Academically, he could really see himself thriving as a student. He also loved the campus and how welcomed he felt when he visited.
“I liked the coaching staff’s focus on development, structure, and accountability,” said Swan. “Academically, I was drawn to the smaller class sizes and the personalized learning experience that prepares students for real-world careers. When I visited the Stevenson campus, I immediately got a good feeling about the environment, both athletically and academically. The first thing that stood out was how welcoming everyone was. The coaching staff, players, and even the students around campus were all easy to talk to, and it gave me a sense of community right away.”
Swan will be working hard during the offseason to prepare for the college level and all the challenges it will bring.
“To prepare for next season at Stevenson, I’m focusing on improving my defensive positioning and decision-making, while also getting stronger and faster,” said Swan. “I know the college game will be more physical, so I’m working on building strength and speed to compete at a higher level and contribute defensively.”
The NCDC congratulates Joshua Swan, his family, the West Chester Wolves and Stevenson University for his commitment.
