A two-year veteran of the Jersey Hitmen, forward Breyden Zupsansky was thrilled to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Chatham University for the 2025-26 season this spring.
Zupsansky, an Akron, Ohio, native, played in 23 games for the Hitmen during the 2023-24 season tallying seven points. He returned for the 2024-25 season and put up 47 points (20G, 27A) in 44 games played and was a big part of their offense. Zupsansky was also named to the Atlantic All-Star team back in January and scored a goal at the Jan. 27-28 All-Star event.
“Playing for the Jersey Hitmen really allowed me to be the best player I can be,” said Zupsansky. “All of the extra ice and skill sessions we had made it really easy for me to be a better player. The staff at the Hitmen really pushed me and helped me to become the player that I wanted to be. Also the culture, we had a really good group of guys that just made the year great.”
Zupsansky began communicating with the Chatham coaching staff at the beginning of the season at the Hitmen Showcase in October. He explained that the coaches liked his “versatility as a player and my compete on the ice.”
It was important that Zupsansky found a school where he would be challenged athletically and academically and Chatham checked those boxes.
“From the hockey aspect Pittsburgh has a history for great hockey and the culture at Chatham really drew me to it,” said Zupsansky. “On the academic side, the Chatham hockey team does a really good job to ensure that their hockey team is excelling in the classroom as well as on the ice. The campus feel that Chatham had was one aspect that I really enjoyed. Right when I got on campus, it was very pretty and it just felt right.”
After a successful couple of years with the Hitmen, Zupsansky is switching gears to focus on playing at the college level next year.
“I’m going to continue to work on my speed and hockey IQ,” said Zupsansky. “College hockey is another level so I need to elevate my game in those areas so I can perform at my best for the team.”
The NCDC congratulates Breyden Zupsansky, his family, the Jersey Hitmen and Chatham University for his commitment.
