Boston Jr. Rangers goaltender Mason Jones is thrilled to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Misericordia University for the 2025-26 season.

Jones, an Auburn, NY native, appeared in nine games for the Jr. Rangers this season, earning three wins. He also played in six games for the Worcester Railers JHC and added four victories. He is also a USPHL Premier veteran of the Utica Jr. Comets organization.

“I signed with the Boston Jr. Rangers because they had just made the jump from their previous league to the NCDC and I saw a big opportunity with that,” said Jones. “The Jr. Rangers are a developing NCDC program who I’m sure will find their way into the top of the standings over the next couple years.”

Jones connected with the Misericordia coaching staff at the end of June after they saw him play at a camp.

“The coaches reached out to me after a Salt City Prospects camp and said that they liked my game and thought I’d be a good fit for their program,” said Jones.

With Misericordia being a new program in hockey, that struck a chord with Jones and he knew it was the perfect place to go. He also really enjoyed the campus and knew he would thrive there as a student-athlete.

“I became interested with Misericordia because they are a new program as of last year, which means there is a lot of opportunity,” said Jones. “On the academic side, they have my major and they seem to have a strong focus on academics.

“When I visited the campus, I was very impressed. I felt that it would be a perfect environment for me because everything looked brand new and the campus layout is very nice. They seem to have all the little things that make day-to-day life as a student much better.”

In preparation for Misericordia, Jones is working on a few things to get him ready for the college level.

“I’m currently working on my footwork and some other small details to prepare myself for this upcoming season with Misericordia,” said Jones.

The NCDC congratulates Mason Jones, his family, the Boston Jr. Rangers and Misericordia University for his commitment.
