Rockets Hockey Club defenseman Isaac Suh has made his NCAA Division I commitment to Air Force Academy, for a future season beyond 2025-26 to be determined.
Suh, a 2007-born native of Chatham, N.J., split the season almost evenly between the Rockets’ NCDC team (23 games) and the Rockets 18U Tier 1 Hockey Federation team (22 games). He also participated in the USA Hockey Nationals with the Rockets’ 18U squad, which is where his conversations began with the Air Force staff.
“We began speaking after Nationals, where they saw me play. They like my speed, puck retrievals, play-making abilities and my instincts around the ice,” added Suh, who said he will matriculate to Air Force “most likely after two to three years of junior hockey.”
Air Force, led by Head Coach Frank Serratore since 1997, has a winning history as a program back to its 1968-69 inaugural season, and they have made seven NCAA tournament appearances, all since their first trip to the big dance in 2006-07.
“I really liked the team’s culture and environment, their play style, and I think that the coaching staff is a great fit for me to succeed,” Suh said. “The academics are world class, and the military gives me the honor and opportunity to serve my country.”
Suh joined the Rockets’ NCDC team from the start of this past season, and he played until December, registering two assists in 23 games. For the remainder of the season, he completed his 22-game season with the Rockets’ 18U team, scoring 16 points and also played for his hometown Chatham High School hockey team.
“Playing in the NCDC helped me create habits that are needed to succeed at the next level. I think that playing for the NCDC team gave me good experience playing junior hockey, but making the switch to 18U to play for Rockets 18’s and Coach Noel Rubin helped my game a lot,” said Suh. “I was able to play in a skill-plus-creativity-styled game as well as having good exposure playing for the Rockets.”
It may be 2027 before Suh joins the Falcons in Colorado Springs, and he knows that gives him plenty of time to craft his game into becoming an impact NCAA Division I player.
“I’ll be focusing on getting stronger and creating strong defensive habits to maximize my game in college,” said Suh.
The NCDC congratulates Isaac Suh, his family, the Rockets Hockey Club and Air Force Academy for his commitment.
