Thunder Hockey Club forward Evan Luxford is excited to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to University of Wisconsin-Stout for the 2025-26 season.
Luxford, who hails from Sun Prairie, WI, signed with the Thunder Hockey Club for the 2024-25 season and had nothing but positive things to say about his experience. In 52 games played for the Thunder, Luxford tallied 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists).
“The Thunder Hockey Club is great,” said Luxford. “All of my teammates were great. Coach Dan Hodge runs a good club and expects a lot from his players. Signing for the 2024-25 season was an easy decision. They were willing to give me a chance so I took it.”
Luxford began speaking with the University of Wisconsin-Stout at the beginning of the summer after the hockey season had ended.
“The coaches at University of Wisconsin-Stout liked the speed of my game and my physical play that I bring,” said Luxford.
What really drove Luxford to the University of Wisconsin-Stout was the fact that it is close to home, has competitive hockey, and the major he was interested in pursuing.
“What interested me most was that it was back home in my state and athletically in a great conference with good competition,” said Luxford. “Academically, they have the degree I want to study, which is construction management and not many schools have that degree. When I got onto campus, it immediately felt like a good fit, with the size not being too big or too small.”
Luxford is hard at work this offseason preparing for the college level of play.
“I am working on my playmaking ability and my overall strength to be able to play well at the higher level that is college,” said Luxford.
The NCDC congratulates Evan Luxford, his family, the Thunder Hockey Club and University of Wisconsin-Stout for his commitment.
