West Chester Wolves forward Charles Becnel had a great age-out year in the NCDC and earned himself an NCAA Division III commitment to Alvernia University for the 2025-26 season.
Becnel, a local product from West Chester, Pa., had an awesome experience in his year with the Wolves, playing in 48 regular season games and tallying 22 total points (seven goals, 15 assists).
“I couldn’t have asked for a better team to spend my age-out season with than the Wolves,” said Becnel. “The coaches and players made the season some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing hockey. Their commitment to development and excellence was the driving factor.”
The Alvernia coaching staff reached out to Becnel in the November/December time frame about potentially continuing his career there. He explained how the coaches really respected his competitive nature and his two-way approach to the game.
Becnel chose Alvernia for their competitive hockey program and knew it was a school where he would thrive academically. He loved the campus and knew upon visiting it was the right place for him.
“Alvernia caught my eye because of the opportunity to win their conference, while also being a part of the O’pake internship program to prepare for a career in Finance,” said Becnel. “The campus was full of life and seemed like an enjoyable spot to spend four years.”
Becnel is hopeful to be able to contribute right away in the fall and is planning to work hard the next few months to prove that.
“I’m expecting to continue to develop my offensive game and ability to read plays, while also contributing in any way I can to make sure we have success next season,” said Becnel.
The NCDC congratulates Charles Becnel, his family, the West Chester Wolves and Alvernia University for his commitment.
