NCDC Ownership Adds Premier and Elite Teams in Jacksonville to Growing Hockey Portfolio
Jacksonville, Fla. — May 20, 2025 – The United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) is proud to announce the official acquisition of the Bold City Battalion Premier and Elite teams by Chris and Rhea Reaves of Raleigh, N.C. The Reaves continues to make bold strides in junior hockey, expanding their successful ownership portfolio to include the Jacksonville-based organization competing in the league’s highly competitive Florida Division.
The Reaves are no strangers to the USPHL landscape. They currently own the NCDC Casper Warbirds in Wyoming and recently unveiled plans for two additional franchises launching in 2025—the NCDC Woodstock Slammers and the NCDC Presque Isle Frontiers—representing the league’s exciting new footprint in the northeast and into Eastern Canada.
With this latest acquisition, the Reaves bring their proven leadership and passion for player development to Bold City, which has quickly emerged as one of the USPHL’s most formidable new programs. In just their inaugural season, the Battalion made a dramatic run to the USPHL Nationals, and nearly repeated that feat in year two, falling just one game shy of a return trip. Their rapid rise has solidified Bold City as a premier destination for aspiring junior hockey players.
“Bold City has built something special in a short amount of time, and we are thrilled to continue that momentum,” said Chris Reaves. “Jacksonville is an exciting hockey market, and we look forward to enhancing opportunities for elite talent to develop, compete, and succeed.”
Bold City will continue to call Igloo Ice, the official practice facility of the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen, its home for Premier and Elite competition. The program also introduces new leadership, Head Coach Rich Brouwer and Director of Hockey Operations Jeff Volkman taking the reins of recruiting and player development.
As part of the team’s next chapter, Bold City will host a Prospect Camp June 27–28 at Igloo Ice, led by NHL veteran and Stanley Cup Champion Steve Oleksy, providing an elite opportunity for players to showcase their skills and earn a place in the Battalion’s next wave of success.
