Connecticut Jr. Rangers’ Szarzynski Named USPHL Premier Fans Choice Defenseman Of The Year

The Connecticut Jr. Rangers are certainly thrilled that they’ll have one of their top blueliners back for the 2025-26. Rangers fans certainly are, as they helped push CJR defenseman Hubert Szarzynski to the top of the vote count in the recent USPHL Premier Fans Choice Awards voting. 

“I am happy that I got noticed. It’s a nice addition to the season and I wanted to thank everyone who voted for me,” said Szarzynski, a 2006-born native of Sanok, Poland. He said that he is returning to the Rangers for another go-round in 2025-26. 

Szarzynski was hugely dependable as the Rangers rose from eighth in the Atlantic Division on New Year’s Day to eventually win the regular season division title and the No. 1 seed. It was an amazing turnaround and a bright moment in the eight-year Premier history of the Rangers, who had also won the 2024 USPHL Premier National Championship. 

Szarzynski was signed from the Flemingsburgs J20 program in Sweden, joining alongside fellow first-year Rangers, Dominik Godri and Vilhelm Blom. Szarzynski became Mr. Dependable on the blue line, playing an incredibly balanced game that saw him earn five goals and 22 points in his 33 games. The Rangers also finished in the top 20 for fewest goals against per game (2.84) and in shots against per game (32.49). 

“I think I progressed a lot in all aspects of the game because of great stuff and teammates. As I look back to the start of the season, I think the year was successful and I can’t wait to get back to CJR,” said Szarzynski. 

The Rangers will only be too happy to install Szarzynski back on the blue line, especially as he’s been working hard to be even better than the defenseman who’s obviously already attracted the respect of the viewing public. 

“I am working on my quickness and agility the most,” he said.
