Boston Jr. Rangers forward G.P. Giamartino joined his team early in 2025 and enjoyed his time immensely. After a great close to this season, he was very excited to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to St. John Fisher University for the 2025-26 season.
Giamartino, a Syracuse, N.Y., played in 25 games and put up 14 points (5G, 9A) and is thankful for his time spent with the organization.
“The Boston Jr. Rangers were a great fit for me,” said Giamartino. “I loved playing for coach Rich DeCaprio. He gave me the opportunity to develop as a player in all aspects of the game. The exposure that I received playing for the Rangers in Worcester was invaluable. It was a great group of guys to play with. We all got along on and off the ice. It was a great junior hockey experience.”
Giamartino first got in touch with the St. John Fisher coaching staff after they saw him play in a showcase in October.
“The coaches liked my skating, skill set and the energy and grittiness I brought each shift,” said Giamartino. “I’m very excited to be continuing my education and hockey career at St. John Fisher.”
St. John Fisher is close to Giamartino’s hometown and academically, the school offers a great program in what he wants to study.
“Academically, St John Fisher has exactly what I was looking for to pursue, an economics/finance degree,” said Giamartino. It’s the perfect size school, in a great location and city, and it’s only an hour and a half from home.”
On the hockey side of things, Giamartino is looking forward to playing for coach Reid Lesswing and to being a part of the team’s first NCAA season.
“I’m looking forward to being part of the inaugural team and helping build the hockey program,” said Giamartino. Coaches Lesswing and Pomerville, as well as the administration, are all in on making the program a success. A new ice rink is also being added to the Rochester Ice Center for St. John Fisher men’s and women’s teams which shows the commitment the school is making to the program.
“When I visited campus, it was great to hear about both the coaches’ plans and vision for the program, but also how they stressed the importance of getting your
education while playing hockey.”
Giamartino is planning on working hard this off-season while he prepares to play at the college level this fall.
“This summer I’m going to hit the gym hard to work on my strength and conditioning as well as getting on the ice to develop my shot and capitalize on scoring chances from different angles,” said Giamartino.
The NCDC congratulates G.P. Giamartino, his family, the Boston Jr. Rangers and St. John Fisher University for his commitment.
