PREMIER Conference Standouts

The USPHL Premier is proud to recognize its Conference Standouts for the week of Sept. 28 through Oct. 4. One forward, defenseman and goaltender was selected from each of the league’s seven conferences

 

Alberta Conference

Forward: Anthony Fraser, Bassano Beavers — 2 GP, 3-1-4

Fraser scored three power-play goals, including a game-winner, during Bassano’s 2-0 weekend. “He brought a no-quit mentality and was a key part of us going 2-0 this weekend,” Head Coach Knut Hornkvist said.

Defenseman: Liraz Perrott, Three Hills Titans — 2 GP, 3-3-6

Perrott led Alberta Conference defensemen with three goals and six points. Three Hills Head Coach Mathew Rapuano praised Perrott’s ability to create offense from end to end while still recovering defensively.

Goaltender: Dean Peterson, Chestermere Mustangs — 1 GP, 1-0-0, .957 SV%, 2.00 GAA

Peterson stopped 44 of the 46 shots he faced to earn a victory for Chestermere.

Honorable mentions: Hayden Wiscombe and Jovin Manhas (Bassano Beavers); Ciaran Henry and Wyatt Wright (Hanna Havoc); Blake O’Dempsey and Daniel Zander (Three Hills Titans).

Atlantic Conference

Forward: Ciaran Pollard, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders — 4 GP, 5-9-14

Pollard led all USPHL Premier skaters with 14 points, including five power-play assists and a shorthanded goal. “Ciaran played a huge role in our team’s wins this weekend,” Head Coach Frank DiChiara said. “From the drop of the puck, he was committed to playing in all areas of the ice.”

Defenseman: Brett Purner, Red Bank Generals — 3 GP, 0-5-5

Purner generated five assists in three games and finished with the highest points-per-game average among Atlantic Conference defensemen.

Goaltender: Louis-Charles Lapensee, Mercer Chiefs — 3 GP, 3-0-0, .966 SV%, 1.00 GAA, 1 SO

Lapensee stopped 84 of 87 shots while winning all three of his appearances and recording a shutout. “He made incredible saves and kept us in the game,” Head Coach Oleksandr Firsov said. “He’s young and has a lot of potential to become a top-level goalie.”

Honorable mentions: Anthony Prunty (Jersey Hitmen); Zachary Meseroll and Octavian Czarnecki (Mercer Chiefs); George Roland, Lukas Fine and Austin Wolfe (WBS Knights); Robert Wahl Jr., Moses Larribeau and Sacha Ramos Turcotte (West Chester Wolves); Jack Rhein (P.A.L. Jr. Islanders); William Daze (Red Bank Generals).

 

Florida Conference

Forward: Jimmy Rafferty, Florida Eels — 2 GP, 1-4-5

Rafferty led the Florida Conference with five points in two games, recording one goal and four assists for the Eels.

Defenseman: Steacy Roy, Tampa Bay Juniors — 2 GP, 0-3-3

Roy contributed three assists from the Tampa Bay blue line, including one on the power play.

Goaltender: Malte Sodlind, Tampa Bay Juniors — 1 GP, 1-0-0, 1.000 SV%, 0.00 GAA, 1 SO

Sodlind was perfect in his appearance, stopping all 30 shots he faced to earn a shutout victory.

Honorable mentions: Jackson Buchanan, Damon von Einem and Trevor Walmsley (Typhoon Hockey Club); Logan Cameron (Florida Eels).

 

Great Lakes Conference

Forward: Cameron Staskowski, Metro Jets — 4 GP, 8-1-9

Staskowski scored eight goals in four games, including two game-winners, to lead the Great Lakes Conference with nine points.

Defenseman: Parker Arlet, Columbus Mavericks — 4 GP, 2-5-7

Arlet recorded two goals and five assists from the Columbus blue line. Both of his goals were game-winners.

Goaltender: Cameron Cyrus, Metro Jets — 2 GP, 2-0-0, 1.000 SV%, 0.00 GAA, 2 SO

Cyrus did not allow a goal in either of his appearances, stopping all 21 shots he faced and recording two shutout victories.

Honorable mentions: Camden Blauvelt (Fort Wayne Spacemen).

 

Midwest Conference

Forward: Daniel Hanzal, MJDP — 4 GP, 5-4-9

Hanzal led the Midwest Conference with five goals and nine points. His week included a shorthanded goal, a game-winning goal and two overtime goals.

Defenseman: Nathan Bossola, Cincinnati Cyclones — 4 GP, 0-3-3

Bossola recorded three assists while taking on opponents’ top offensive players. Cincinnati Head Coach Lee Lansdowne called him “a standout defenseman at the Premier level” and praised his ability to shut down opposing top lines.

Goaltender: Nicholas Trichilo, Flint Icelanders — 2 GP, 112 saves, .926 SV%

Trichilo faced an extraordinary 121 shots across two appearances and stopped 112 of them. “Nick was the backbone of two good efforts,” Head Coach Jake Lainesse said. “He was a huge momentum swing for us.”

Honorable mentions: Gavin Seitz and Nigel Smith (Cincinnati Cyclones).

 

New England Conference

Forward: Garrett Sager, South Shore Kings — 2 GP, 3-5-8

Sager led the New England Conference with eight points in two games. “Garrett showed up shift after shift, constantly giving us a chance to win the game,” Head Coach Kevin Mackey said.

Defenseman: Domenic Visocchi, Worcester Railers JHC — 2 GP, 2-4-6

Visocchi recorded six points, ran Worcester’s power play and contributed in all three zones. Head Coach John Fine-Lease said Visocchi “has the ability to take over a game” and is also trusted defensively when the Railers are protecting a lead.

Goaltender: Gavin Schryver, Syracuse Lightning — 1 GP, 1-0-0, 58 saves, .967 SV%, 2.00 GAA

Schryver stopped 58 of 60 shots to earn a 3-2 overtime victory. “He willed his team to a win, making save after save,” Head Coach Tanner Coleman said.

Honorable mentions: Oli Lareau (Worcester Railers JHC); Tyler Lessard (Boston Jr. Terriers); Drew Schneider (Syracuse Lightning).

 

North Conference

Forward: Austin Smith, Hudson Havoc — 4 GP, 5-1-6

Smith scored five goals and added an assist while leading the North Conference with six points. “Austin is relentless,” Head Coach Nick Decheine said. “He never gives up on the play and will turn something from nothing.”

Defenseman: Lucas Schmitt, Hudson Havoc — 4 GP, 0-3-3

Schmitt led North Conference defensemen with three assists across four games.

Goaltender: Domeniks Martinovs-Vinkalns, Dells Ducks — 3 GP, 1-1-0, 91 saves, .929 SV%, 2.33 GAA

Martinovs-Vinkalns faced 98 shots and turned aside 91 of them while earning a victory for the Ducks.

 

Pacific Conference

Forward: Riley Richards, Santa Clarita Lakers — 3 GP, 4-8-12

Richards produced four goals and eight assists to lead the Pacific Conference with 12 points. His week also included two game-winning goals and a shorthanded goal.

Defenseman: Colten Dwarzski, Salt Lake Ghost Riders — 3 GP, 2-7-9

Dwarzski recorded two goals and seven assists, finishing six points ahead of the conference’s next-highest-scoring defenseman.

Goaltender: Logan LaValley, Salt Lake Ghost Riders — 1 GP, 1-0-0, .958 SV%, 1.00 GAA

LaValley stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced to earn a victory for Salt Lake.

Honorable mentions: Aiden Gillett and Cooper White (Salt Lake Ghost Riders).

 

Southeast Conference

Forward: Travis Anderson, Charleston Colonials — 2 GP, 2-2-4

Anderson recorded two goals and two assists in two games, with three of his four points coming on the power play.

Defenseman: Dhilan Paranjape, Charlotte Rush — 2 GP, 2-4-6

Paranjape led Southeast Conference skaters with six points and scored twice on the power play, including a game-winning goal. “Dhilan dominated on both ends of the puck this weekend,” NCDC Head Coach Trevor Kleckner said. “To put up six points in just two games is extremely impressive at this level.”

Goaltender: Zachary DeLonge, Charleston Colonials — 1 GP, 1-0-0, 23 shutout win

DeLonge stopped all of the 23 shots he faced in a 5-0 win over the Carolina Jr. Canes on Saturday.

Honorable mentions: Chase Welton and Cameron Duda (Charlotte Rush); Maximus Pekins (Charleston Colonials).

 

St. Lawrence Conference

Forward: Michael Funaro, Ravens Hockey Academy — 4 GP, 7-5-12

Funaro scored seven goals and added five assists to lead the St. Lawrence Conference with 12 points. His week included a game-winning goal and three overtime assists.

Defenseman: Adriano Lisio, Ravens Hockey Academy — 4 GP, 2-4-6

Lisio led St. Lawrence Conference defensemen with six points. His performance included a game-winning goal, a power-play assist and a shorthanded assist.

Goaltender: Daniel Muratov, Ravens Hockey Academy — 2 GP, 2-0-0, .935 SV%, 1.50 GAA, 1 SO

Muratov won both of his appearances, stopping 43 of the 46 shots he faced and recording a shutout.

Honorable mentions: Carson Caddick (Kingston Wranglers); Jeremy Deschambault-Perron and Alexandre Comte (Somang Hockey); Beckett Meumann, Alexander Dugan and Noah Pelletier (Universel Sherbrooke).

 

About the Weekly Awards: Conference Standouts recognizes a forward, defenseman and goaltender from each USPHL Premier conference. These honors do not include a cash award. The Performance Player of the Week is a separate award selected by a voting panel, recognizing one player across each league, regardless of position, with a $500 award in the USPHL Premier. A Conference Standouts selection does not automatically receive the Performance Player of the Week award.
