USPHL • Premier • USPHL Premier Weekend Preview: Streaks and First-Place Races Face New Tests | Oct. 16-18, 2026

USPHL Weekend Preview

Several of the USPHL Premier’s early conference races will be tested this weekend, with undefeated teams protecting perfect starts, first-place clubs meeting nearby challengers and the Florida Cup bringing tournament hockey back to Fort Myers.

The schedule includes a meeting between Great Lakes leader Metro and Toledo, a three-game weekend involving Atlantic frontrunners P.A.L. and Mercer, and two direct series capable of changing the Southeast race. In the Pacific, the undefeated Long Beach Bombers put their 8-0 start on the line twice against San Diego.

Florida Cup Returns To Fort Myers

The Florida Eels, Florida Jr. Blades, Coral Springs Jr. Cats and Typhoon Hockey Club will compete for the USPHL Premier Florida Cup at the Fort Myers Skatium.

Saturday’s opening round begins with the Eels against the Jr. Blades at 9 a.m. ET. Coral Springs and Typhoon follow at noon. The winners advance to Sunday’s championship game, while the other two teams meet in the consolation game. Sunday’s Premier games are scheduled for 9 a.m. and noon, with the matchups determined by Saturday’s results.

Unlike the NCDC bracket, which is making its first appearance in the event, the Premier Florida Cup is an established part of the in-state schedule.

Tampa Bay leads the Florida Conference with 10 points but is not participating in the Cup. That gives second-place Florida Eels and the other three participants an opportunity to add tournament success while collecting important conference points.

Atlantic Conference: P.A.L. And The Rockets Share The Lead

The P.A.L. Jr. Islanders and Rockets Hockey Club enter the weekend tied atop the Atlantic with 14 points.

P.A.L. brings a perfect 7-0-0-0 record into Saturday’s meeting with third-place Mercer. The Chiefs are only two points back, have won three straight and can move directly into the conference race with a result against the Islanders.

P.A.L. returns Sunday against the Connecticut Jr. Rangers.

The Rockets carry a four-game winning streak into Friday’s meeting with Red Bank. The Generals sit fifth with 10 points, but they have played two fewer games than the co-leaders and have won three straight.

West Chester and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton meet Friday with only three points separating them. The Knights have won three consecutive games, while the Wolves will look to stop a three-game skid.

Great Lakes Conference: Metro Meets Toledo

Metro has opened a four-point lead in the Great Lakes after winning seven straight. The Jets enter Friday’s matchup against Toledo at 7-0-0-1, having scored 51 goals while allowing only 14.

Toledo is 5-1-0-0 and five points behind Metro with two games in hand. That makes Friday’s meeting a direct opportunity for the Cherokee to cut into the lead—or for the Jets to create further separation.

Columbus and the Chicago Crush meet Friday and Saturday. The Mavericks sit second with 11 points, two ahead of Chicago, but the Crush can change that positioning over the two-game series.

Chicago closes the weekend Sunday against Fort Wayne.

Midwest Conference: Cincinnati Defends A Six-Game Streak

Cincinnati has won six straight and leads the Midwest with 12 points. The Cyclones face Flint on Friday and Saturday with an opportunity to strengthen their early hold on first place.

Second-place MJDP sits two points back and plays Fresh Coast on Sunday.

Fresh Coast has a busy weekend, beginning with games against Danville on Friday and Saturday. Both teams are searching for momentum, with the Iron looking to halt a three-game slide and the Freeze seeking their first regulation victory.

New England Conference: A Crowded Race Behind Utica

Utica holds first place with nine points, but Boston Jr. Rangers, Northern Cyclones and Worcester are each one point behind.

The Jr. Comets face Syracuse on Saturday before crossing into Atlantic competition against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Sunday.

Friday’s Boston Jr. Terriers-Worcester matchup gives the Railers an opportunity to pull level with Utica. Worcester enters on a two-game winning streak.

The Terriers return Saturday against the New England Wolves, who have collected two overtime points from their first two games. The Wolves then face Islanders Hockey Club on Sunday.

Boston Jr. Rangers and Northern Cyclones do not play this weekend, making the games involving Utica and Worcester especially important to the top of the table.

North Conference: Dells Tries To Extend Its Lead

Dells leads the North with 10 points and has won three straight. The Ducks face Northwest on Friday before meeting unbeaten Kinni Spirit on Saturday.

Kinni has scored 21 goals through its first two games. Saturday represents its first opportunity to test that start against the conference leader.

Hudson hosts the Minnesota Mullets on Sunday. The Mullets have split their first two games, while the Havoc enter looking to reverse a two-game slide.

Pacific Conference: Long Beach Puts Perfection On The Line

Long Beach has been one of the league’s most productive teams through the opening weeks. The Bombers are 8-0-0-0, have scored 65 goals and hold a one-point lead over Santa Clarita.

Long Beach meets San Diego on Friday and Saturday. The Sabers have won their most recent game and will have two opportunities to end the Bombers’ perfect start.

Santa Clarita faces San Diego on Sunday. The Lakers sit at 7-1-1-0 and can keep pressure on Long Beach if the Bombers leave points available.

With the division’s top two teams both facing the Sabers, San Diego could have a significant influence on the Pacific standings this weekend.

Southeast Conference: Four Contenders, Two Direct Series

The Southeast has developed into one of the Premier’s tightest races.

Charleston leads with 15 points after opening 7-0-1-0. Charlotte is one point back, Yorktown is two behind and Hampton Roads sits five points off the lead with two games in hand.

Charlotte and Hampton Roads meet Saturday and Sunday. The Whalers have won five straight, while the Rush enter on a three-game streak. Two head-to-head games give Hampton Roads an opportunity to close the gap quickly, but Charlotte can apply pressure to first-place Charleston with a sweep.

The Colonials face Potomac on Saturday and Sunday. Charleston has won seven straight and allowed only 11 goals through eight games. The Patriots will try to end a six-game skid while confronting the conference’s top defensive record.

St. Lawrence Conference: Four Teams Separated By Three Points

Universel Sherbrooke leads the St. Lawrence with 13 points, but Deux-Montagnes sits one point behind. Montreal, Somang and St-Lazare are all tied at 10.

Deux-Montagnes meets New York Dynamo on Friday before facing Somang on Saturday. The Ravens have won four straight and can take over first place if they continue that run and Sherbrooke leaves points available.

Somang returns Sunday against Kingston.

Montreal faces Universel Collège Gatineau on Friday. Sherbrooke’s only game comes Sunday against Ottawa Valley, giving the first-place club an opportunity to protect its lead after watching the rest of the conference play earlier in the weekend.

Alberta Conference: Hanna Brings A Perfect Record Into The Weekend

OLCN leads the Alberta Conference with nine points, but unbeaten Hanna sits one point behind with two games in hand.

Hanna hosts Three Hills on Friday before meeting Bassano on Saturday. The Havoc have won their first four games and can move into first place this weekend.

OLCN faces Claresholm on Saturday. The Cowboys are only three points behind the Scouts and have played two fewer games.

Claresholm also meets Calgary on Friday, while Three Hills closes its weekend Sunday against Chestermere.
