USPHL Premier Welcomes Hinton Timberwolves To Alberta Division For 2026-27 Season
USPHL • USPHL PREMIER • USPHL Premier Welcomes Hinton Timberwolves To Alberta Division For 2026-27 Season
The United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) is proud to announce the addition of the Hinton Timberwolves to the USPHL Premier for the 2026-27 season. Based in Hinton, Alberta, the Timberwolves will compete in the league’s Alberta Division, further strengthening the USPHL’s presence across Western Canada.
The Timberwolves will play their home games at the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre, a community cornerstone that has long served as a hub for hockey in the region.
Leading the organization is President Jason Stajkowski, who believes Hinton’s passion for the game makes it an ideal fit for the USPHL Premier and its player advancement model.
“Hinton has a strong appetite for junior hockey,” said Stajkowski. “The town reminds me of how junior hockey was once played. Their support of past Timberwolves teams gives me confidence that this community will support this franchise and help it thrive.”
The addition of the Timberwolves continues the USPHL’s commitment to providing players with meaningful development opportunities and pathways to higher levels of hockey, including advancement to the National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC), college hockey, and beyond.
“To me, that’s the main goal of this league, moving players on to higher levels,” Stajkowski added. “Sometimes a player may not be ready for the NCDC and need additional ice time and opportunities to develop in all situations. Championships are great, but if you’re always winning, you’re not always learning.”
The organization’s focus on advancement extends beyond junior hockey. The Timberwolves have already established relationships with collegiate programs and plan to actively promote players seeking opportunities at the next level.
“Throughout last season, we had several conversations with NCAA Division III and ACHA schools,” said Stajkowski. “Our goal is to promote all of our players and help them reach the highest level possible.”
As the organization prepares for its inaugural USPHL Premier season, the Timberwolves are building a culture centered on character, accountability, and community pride.
“Pride in the jersey and pride in the town are important to us,” Stajkowski said. “We want players who represent themselves well both on and off the ice. Winning cultures are built on good character, dedication, hard work, and pride in your job.”
The Timberwolves join a growing Alberta Division that continues to provide high-level competition and development opportunities for players throughout Western Canada. Their addition further expands the USPHL Premier’s footprint while creating another destination for players seeking advancement through one of North America’s largest junior hockey development platforms.
