After an excellent season in the NCDC, Boston Jr. Rangers forward Tyler Dale was excited earlier this spring to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to the University of Dubuque for the 2025-26 season.

Dale, a Pewaukee, Wis., native, signed with the Jr. Rangers for the 2024-25 season and proved to be one of the team’s top forwards. In 54 games played, he tallied 50 points (21 goals, 29 assists) and was a key asset.

“I really enjoyed my time out East this season,” said Dale. “I knew BJR had a strong track record of advancing players to the college level, which was my ultimate goal. In addition, the city life, location and great facilities played a significant role in my decision to sign there.”

Dale had been communicating with the University of Dubuque coaching staff for quite some time. He first connected with them back in September after the Jr. Rangers’ opening weekend of games.

“The coaching staff was impressed with my ability to make plays, find the back of the net, and consistently make an impact on the ice,” said Dale.

Being close to home in Wisconsin and playing in a competitive hockey league were two important factors Dale was looking for and University of Dubuque was the perfect fit.

“One of the biggest draws for me was how close UD is to home and the opportunity to compete in the NCHA,” said Dale. “Being able to play college hockey in and around Wisconsin was very appealing. Academically, I plan to major in sports marketing and management and minor in graphic design. UD has strong programs in both areas, and I’m excited to pursue them while continuing my hockey career.”

Dale had the opportunity to visit many schools this season, but University of Dubuque stood out to him and he knew that was the one.

“The University of Dubuque had a big feel for being a small school, and the amenities for athletes were impressive,” said Dale. “I had a great visit with the coaching staff and felt an immediate connection with them. What left the biggest impression was how welcoming everyone was, and how much the school values the sense of family and community.”

Now in the off-season, Dale is looking forward to fine-tuning his skills and being ready to compete in the fall.

“This summer, I’m focusing on improving my speed, strength, and overall skating, while continuing to hone my stick skills,” said Dale. “I want to come into my freshman season as prepared as possible and be ready to contribute to the team right away. I’m really excited to get started this fall.”

The NCDC congratulates Tyler Dale, his family, the Boston Jr. Rangers and the University of Dubuque for his commitment.
