NCDC Final Buzzer: Tampa Bay Sweeps The Southeast, Woodstock Stays Perfect And P.A.L. Makes Its Move | Oct. 9-11, 2026

NCDC Final Buzzer

The NCDC’s two showcase weekends produced very different kinds of stories.

Tampa Bay filled the net at the Southeast Showcase, scoring 22 goals during a three-game sweep. P.A.L. Jr. Islanders used a four-goal third period to begin a perfect weekend at the Hitmen Classic. Woodstock remained unbeaten, Lake Tahoe surrendered only two goals in three games and Montreal needed overtime to settle a game that remained scoreless for more than 63 minutes.

Here is what mattered across the NCDC from Friday through Sunday.

Weekend Headlines

Tampa Bay Sweeps With 22 Goals

The Tampa Bay Juniors left no doubt about the strongest weekend at the Southeast Showcase.

Tampa Bay opened with a 5-1 victory over Potomac, edged Carolina 8-7 on Saturday and finished with a 9-5 win over Charlotte. The Juniors scored 22 goals, collected all six available points and extended their winning streak to six games.

Saturday provided the biggest test. Tampa Bay carried a 6-3 lead into the third period before Carolina scored four times, but the Juniors answered twice and held on.

Niko Makela scored five goals across the weekend, including a hat trick Sunday. Rory Kvern also struck three times against Charlotte as the two forwards accounted for six of Tampa Bay’s nine goals in the finale.

P.A.L. Owns The Third Period

P.A.L. Jr. Islanders entered Friday’s third period trailing the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 1-0. Less than 14 minutes later, the Islanders had a two-goal lead.

Billy Collins tied it, Sean Felker put P.A.L. ahead, Landon Roberson added another and Algirdas Jaras finished the four-goal period in a 4-2 victory.

The Islanders followed with a 3-1 win over Utica on Saturday. Michael Papaspyros and Artur Ovsepian scored in the second period before Nico Bromley supplied the third-period insurance.

P.A.L. took four points from two games while allowing only three goals—a weekend that strengthened its position in a crowded Atlantic race.

Woodstock’s Perfect Start Reaches 6-0

Woodstock kept rolling in the Northeast Conference.

The Warriors defeated Northern Maine 3-1 on Friday and erupted for an 11-3 win over Perth-Andover on Sunday, improving to 6-0. Woodstock scored 14 goals over the two victories and has now outscored its opponents 34-12 this season.

Luis Valencia, Iaroslav Morozov and Yegor Krasavin each scored twice in Sunday’s victory as the Warriors opened a 5-0 first-period lead and never let Perth-Andover back into the game.

Lake Tahoe Controls Its Three-Game Set

Lake Tahoe swept McCall by identical 5-0, 5-1 and 5-1 margins, outscoring the Smokejumpers 15-2 across three games.

Chase Harrington supplied a Friday hat trick, while Lewis Beddow scored twice in Sunday’s finale. The Lakers never trailed during the series and allowed just one goal in each of the final two games.

That sweep gives Lake Tahoe three straight victories and meaningful early separation in the Pacific Division.

Montreal Wins A Goaltending Duel

Thunder Hockey Club and the Montreal Black Vees played more than 63 minutes without a regulation goal Sunday.

Elliott Fortin finally ended it 3:24 into overtime, lifting Montreal to a 1-0 victory. The Black Vees put 43 shots on goal but could not break through until the extra period, while Montreal held Thunder scoreless on 24 shots.

It was a sharp response by the Black Vees after Thunder won Saturday’s meeting 5-3.

Atlantic Conference: P.A.L. And Mercer Push Forward

P.A.L.’s four-point weekend was the Atlantic’s headline, but Mercer also produced an important response.

The Chiefs defeated the Connecticut Jr. Rangers 6-3 on Saturday before beating the previously unbeaten Northern Cyclones by the same score Sunday. Beaudry Beaudin scored twice in each game, while Jack Spiess added two goals against the Cyclones.

Mercer’s special teams drove Sunday’s result. The Chiefs converted five of eight power-play opportunities, turned a scoreless first period into a 2-0 second-period lead and scored four more in the third.

West Chester also earned an important result at the Hitmen Classic, defeating the host Jersey Hitmen 4-2 on Saturday.

The weekend tightened the conference behind its early leaders while giving P.A.L. and Mercer the most positive momentum.

Colonial Conference: Dynamo Delivers Late

New York Dynamo and the Boston Jr. Rangers were tied 3-3 late Saturday before Nicholas Ferrari broke the deadlock in the final minute, giving Dynamo a 4-3 win.

Springfield strengthened its position Saturday with a 5-1 victory over Syracuse. Cal Hoyt scored twice as the Pics turned a scoreless opening period into a four-goal advantage.

Springfield’s weekend ended with a 4-2 loss to the New England Wolves, but the split kept the Pics central to a Colonial race that remains tightly grouped near the top.

The Connecticut Chiefs also earned a crossover victory, defeating Quebec Universel 4-2 behind goals from Seamus Howard, Blaine Nichols, Albert Gervais and Jack Grahling.

Metropolitan Conference: Wolves And Bruins Break Through

The New England Wolves put together one of the Metropolitan Conference’s strongest weekends.

Charles-Etienne Roy scored twice in Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Boston Jr. Terriers. On Sunday, Roy scored again and Vincent Gosselin added two goals as the Wolves defeated Springfield 4-2.

The Boston Jr. Bruins also collected two convincing victories. They beat Red Bank 6-1 Saturday and followed with another 6-1 win over the Connecticut RoughRiders on Sunday.

Shane Temple scored twice against Red Bank and added another Sunday. The Bruins generated 67 shots against the RoughRiders, one of the weekend’s heaviest offensive totals.

The reigning Dineen Cup champion South Shore Kings closed their showcase schedule with a 4-1 victory over the Jersey Hitmen. Zachary Chehade scored twice, while Len-Thomas Wright and Gus McGarvey also found the net.

Midwest Conference: Toledo Ends Chicago’s Perfect Start

Chicago Union entered Friday 6-0, but Toledo brought that unbeaten opening to an end with a 4-3 victory.

Luke Thick and Easton Tinsley gave the Cherokee a 2-0 first-period lead. Chicago twice pulled within one, but Luke Thick’s third-period goal provided the margin Toledo needed to hold on.

Columbus continued its impressive opening stretch Saturday with a 6-0 win over Red River. The Mavericks fired 53 shots and received goals from six different players.

In the North Division, Northwest Express survived a Hudson comeback for a 6-5 victory Friday. Hudson erased an early 3-0 deficit and pulled even at 5-5, but Northwest found the deciding goal before the second intermission and protected the lead throughout the third.

Northeast Conference: Woodstock Leads, Moose And MAINEiacs Split

Woodstock’s 6-0 start has established the Warriors as the team to chase, but the St. Stephen County Moose and Lewiston MAINEiacs added another chapter to their developing series.

Trevor Ponath recorded a hat trick in St. Stephen’s 4-2 victory Friday. Lewiston answered Saturday with a 3-2 win, receiving one goal in every period from Jack O’Connor, Luke Long and Nick Yashin.

Thunder and Montreal also split their two meetings. Thunder won 5-3 Saturday before the Black Vees answered with Sunday’s 1-0 overtime victory.

South Conference: Showcase Produces Goals And Drama

Tampa Bay’s sweep led the Southeast Showcase, but several other teams left Virginia with meaningful results.

Carolina defeated host Hampton Roads 4-3 on Friday, with Adriano Bongiorno scoring twice. The Hurricanes then pushed Tampa Bay to the final minutes of an 8-7 game Saturday.

Florida Junior Blades earned a 5-2 win over Potomac, while the Patriots bounced back Sunday and held off a four-goal Florida Eels third period for a 6-5 victory.

Coral Springs supplied Sunday’s extra-time drama. The Jr. Cats erased a 4-3 deficit in the third period before defeating Hampton Roads 5-4 in a shootout.

The showcase demonstrated how little currently separates many of the Florida and Southeast teams—but Tampa Bay was the one club that completed the weekend without leaving points behind.

West Conference: Lakers Sweep, Ontario Answers

Lake Tahoe’s 15-2 sweep of McCall was the West Conference’s clearest statement.

Ontario Jr. Reign also earned an important Pacific result Sunday, defeating Ventura 5-3. Jonathan Heimlich and Zander Weatherhead helped Ontario build a 3-0 first-period lead before Jake Hudec scored in both the first and third periods.

In the Mountain Division, the early race remains closely packed, leaving each direct meeting capable of reshaping the order.
