NCDC Weekend Preview: Conference Races Meet The Fort Wayne Midwest Showcase | Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2026

NCDC Weekend Preview

The NCDC enters its final weekend of October with 49 games scheduled across three days, including nine games at the Fort Wayne Spacemen Midwest Showcase.

The showcase brings together Columbus, Fort Wayne, Red River and Toledo from the Great Lakes Division alongside Minnesota Squatch and Wisconsin Rapids from the North Division. Every showcase game will be played at the PMS Ice House in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Away from the showcase, the weekend features important matchups in each conference: P.A.L. visits Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Worcester meets Northern, West Chester plays both Jersey and WBS, and several South Conference rivals continue tightly contested season series.

Fort Wayne Midwest Showcase

Six NCDC clubs will play three games apiece in Fort Wayne, creating a concentrated weekend of cross-divisional competition.

Sunday, Nov. 1

  • Columbus Mavericks vs. Red River Spartans — 12:30 p.m. ET
  • Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings vs. Toledo Cherokee — 3:30 p.m. ET

Columbus and Toledo begin the showcase against one another Friday in a matchup between two of the stronger Great Lakes contenders. The Mavericks then face the host Spacemen on Saturday morning before closing against Red River.

Fort Wayne receives three very different tests in Wisconsin Rapids, Columbus and Minnesota. The Squatch will face all three Great Lakes opponents, while the Riverkings meet Fort Wayne, Red River and Toledo.

With six points available to every team, the weekend could significantly reshape both Midwest Conference races.

Atlantic Conference: Three Days Of High-Leverage Matchups

Friday’s Atlantic schedule is headlined by P.A.L. visiting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at 2 p.m. ET. The Knights and Islanders have both established themselves near the front of the conference race, making their first meeting of the weekend especially important.

WBS then visits West Chester on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

The Wolves open their weekend Friday against the Jersey Hitmen, while Jersey plays Mercer on Saturday. Mercer also faces the Rockets Hockey Club on Friday before meeting South Shore on Sunday.

The Connecticut Jr. Rangers face South Shore on Friday and West Chester on Saturday, giving CJR consecutive opportunities against established Atlantic opponents.

The weekend could create separation near the top while also allowing teams in the middle of the conference to close ground.

Metropolitan Conference: Worcester Meets Northern

Saturday’s Worcester Railers JHC-Northern Cyclones matchup is one of the weekend’s most important games.

Worcester has built momentum behind a strong run through October, while Northern has remained near the front of the Metropolitan race. Their 1 p.m. ET meeting provides a direct opportunity to gain ground in the standings.

The Railers also host the New England Wolves on Friday. Northern plays Islanders Hockey Club on Sunday after facing Worcester, creating two different divisional tests in less than 24 hours.

Other Metropolitan matchups include:

  • Boston Jr. Terriers vs. Boston Jr. Rangers — Friday
  • Islanders Hockey Club vs. Boston Jr. Bruins — Friday
  • South Shore Kings vs. Connecticut Jr. Rangers — Friday
  • South Shore Kings vs. Rockets Hockey Club — Saturday
  • South Shore Kings vs. Mercer Chiefs — Sunday

South Shore plays three games against three different Atlantic opponents, making the defending Dineen Cup champions one of the teams with the greatest ability to influence the weekend’s overall picture.

Colonial Conference: Red Bank Faces Syracuse Twice

The Red Bank Generals and Syracuse Lightning meet on both Saturday and Sunday. The back-to-back set begins Saturday at 5:15 p.m. ET before concluding Sunday at 1:45 p.m.

Red Bank also plays Friday against Syracuse’s New York rival, the Utica Jr. Comets.

Utica opens its weekend at Vermont Universel on Friday, while Vermont later meets Montreal on Sunday. Springfield and Connecticut RoughRiders play Friday before facing different opponents over the remainder of the weekend.

New York Dynamo hosts Springfield on Sunday after Springfield’s games against the RoughRiders and Red Bank.

The Colonial schedule offers multiple opportunities for movement, particularly with Red Bank, Springfield and Utica all playing more than once.

Northeast Conference: Familiar Rivals Meet Again

The Northeast weekend opens with Montreal Black Vees against Universel Quebec on Friday afternoon. The clubs meet again Saturday with the home designation reversed, giving the two teams a compact home-and-home series.

Montreal then hosts Vermont Universel on Sunday.

Lewiston and Northern Maine also play on consecutive days, beginning Friday at 6 p.m. ET and continuing Saturday at 1 p.m. Lewiston has been one of the conference’s most productive teams, while Northern Maine has demonstrated an ability to win tight games.

St. Stephen County hosts Woodstock on Friday before meeting Perth-Andover on Sunday. Those games carry value in a conference where the middle of the standings remains closely grouped.

South Conference: Rivalries Across Both Divisions

Carolina and Charleston close Friday’s schedule at 9:20 p.m. ET. The Jr. Hurricanes then meet Charlotte on both Saturday and Sunday, creating a demanding three-game weekend against Southeast opposition.

Charlotte and Carolina recently played a pair of one-goal games, making their Halloween rematch and Sunday finale particularly compelling.

Hampton Roads and Charleston meet Saturday before the Whalers return Sunday against the Colonials. Potomac and Yorktown also play twice, meeting Saturday night and again Sunday afternoon.

In Florida, Coral Springs hosts Typhoon on Saturday, while the Florida Jr. Blades and Florida Surge play Saturday and Sunday.

The repeated matchups create the potential for immediate responses: a team dropping points Saturday will not need to wait long for another opportunity Sunday.

West Conference: Series Continue In Mountain And Pacific

Park City and Casper meet Friday and Saturday in a two-game Mountain Conference series. The Outliers and Warbirds played two close games the previous weekend, including an overtime result, and another tight set would not be surprising.

Vernal and Rock Springs also play Friday and Saturday. The Oilers and Miners enter the weekend familiar with one another and with important Mountain points available in both games.

In the Pacific, Ventura and McCall play Friday and Saturday in a cross-divisional matchup. The Vikings opened their previous weekend with a one-goal victory and will again face a Smokejumpers team accustomed to close finishes.

Five Games That Could Define The Weekend

  1. WBS Knights vs. P.A.L. Jr. Islanders — Friday, 2 p.m. ET: Two leading Atlantic contenders meet with valuable positioning at stake.
  2. Columbus Mavericks vs. Toledo Cherokee — Friday, 2:30 p.m. ET: The Midwest Showcase begins with a direct Great Lakes matchup between two of the division’s strongest teams.
  3. Worcester Railers JHC vs. Northern Cyclones — Saturday, 1 p.m. ET: A major Metropolitan game with both clubs competing near the top of the conference.
  4. Charlotte Rush vs. Carolina Jr. Hurricanes — Saturday and Sunday: The Southeast rivals renew their series after producing two one-goal finishes during their previous meeting.
  5. West Chester Wolves vs. WBS Knights — Sunday, 1 p.m. ET: A potentially important Atlantic finale following demanding weekends for both clubs.

Three Teams With Especially Important Weekends

South Shore Kings

South Shore faces Connecticut, the Rockets and Mercer on three consecutive days. The Kings’ results could affect multiple positions throughout the Atlantic standings.

Minnesota Squatch

The Squatch face Red River, Toledo and Fort Wayne at the Midwest Showcase. Three cross-divisional games provide Minnesota with an opportunity to make a major move in the North race.

Carolina Jr. Hurricanes

Carolina plays Charleston on Friday before meeting Charlotte twice. No team has a more concentrated Southeast Division schedule this weekend.
