In just one year of North American hockey, Connecticut Jr. Rangers’ Ludvik Lysonek certainly endeared himself to the Jr. Rangers’ fans and others. After all, he had the most combined votes for MVP and his position to claim the title of USPHL Premier Fans Choice MVP and Forward Of The Year.

“I am very surprised and delighted to have received such an award, and I greatly appreciate it,” said Lysonek, a 2004-born native of Brno, Czechia.

Lysonek brought a hard-nosed, power forward game to a Jr. Rangers team that was coming off a 2024 USPHL Premier National Championship. This year, he scored 22 goals and 33 assists for 55 points in 40 combined regular season and playoff games. Not unlike USPHL Premier Fans Choice Defenseman Of The Year and teammate Hubert Szarzynski, Lysonek joined the Rangers from a Swedish team with two other teammates. He came over from Bodens HF J20 with Neo Nordekvist and Elias Eriksson. All three players had a good transition to the new style.

“At the beginning of the season, I was getting used to a new country, different vibes, new teammates, a smaller rink, and a different style of play than in Europe,” said Lysonek. “The coaches and teammates helped me adapt, and I was able to improve and help the team. By the end of the season, we were a well-coordinated team, but unfortunately, we were unable to demonstrate this in the playoffs.”

During this off-season, Lysonek continues to work “on my further development, using the experience I gained from playing with CJR.”

Lysonek is planning to play in his home country of Czechia again for this coming season, looking to make the transition to a pro career.

“Although I received a number of interesting offers to play in NCAA Division III, I ultimately decided to return home,” he added. “Next season, I would like to try to make it onto the university team in our city and also on to one of the teams in the second Czech hockey league [also known as Maxa Liga].”

The USPHL congratulates Ludvik Lysonek on his USPHL Premier Fans Choice Awards.
