John Marino

John Marino hit the ice with the South Shore Kings in the early USPHL Premier (the equivalent to today’s NCDC), playing in the league’s inaugural 2013-14 season. He had previously played with the Kings’ pre-USPHL teams in the Eastern Junior Hockey League and Empire Junior Hockey League. With 45 points in his two USPHL seasons, he was the highest-scoring defenseman for the Kings in the pre-NCDC Premier Conference.

Marino was drafted directly out of the USPHL Premier, as he was selected in the sixth round (154th overall) by the Edmonton Oilers.

He went on to play for the Tri-City Storm in the USHL and then played three seasons at Harvard University. In 2019, Edmonton traded him to Pittsburgh, and it was with the Penguins that he made his NHL debut. He played three seasons with Pittsburgh and was traded to New Jersey in 2022. The Devils traded him to the Utah Mammoths in 2024, and he played 35 games in 2024-25.

Overall, he has played in 363 regular season games and scored 121 points. He has also played in 26 playoff games, scoring nine points.
